Sallah Message To The People Of Lagos State
Nov 15, 2010 - My dear people of Lagos State,
On this occasion of Eid-il-Kabir, the season of joy, happiness and great excitement, I extend to you my warmest regards and good wishes of a joyous celebration.
The season, as we all know, is symbolic of the Islamic injunction of sacrificial giving and total submission to The Almighty Allah by whose grace we have survived to celebrate yet another Eid-il-Kabir in spite of all the tribulations that have besieged the world around us in the last one year.
It is, therefore, a time to spare a thought about our worldly pursuits and ambitions in relation to our societal values bearing in mind that we are only human and life is all vanity. As we celebrate today, my brothers and sisters in Islam, let us reflect on those societal values that remind us of our common humanity.
Let us pray and ask The Almighty Allah to restore to us those values that remind us that we must love our neighbours as ourselves and that our real values are not reflected in what we have but how much we have touched the lives of those around us, especially those put under our care.
As a Government that is resolved to serve you, we will continue to create an enabling environment for business and commerce to thrive bearing in mind that it is only in a peaceful and secure environment that prosperity can be achieved. I urge you, therefore, to extend a hand of cooperation to the Government and to one another so that together we can achieve our collective dream of a model Mega-city.
Once again, I wish you a joyous and hitch free celebration.
BABATUNDE FASHOLA (SAN)
GOVERNOR OF LAGOS STATE.
