Fashola Expresses Shock Over Passage Of Dr Stanley Macebuh
Mar 8, 2010 - Lagos State Governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola (SAN) on Monday expressed shock over the passage of renowned journalist, administrator and media scholar, Dr Stanley Macebuh in the early hours of Sunday, March 7th at the age of 67.
In a letter of condolence personally signed by the Governor and addressed to the Managing Director of the Guardian Newspapers Limited, he said the death of Dr Macebuh, who has earned a well deserved reputation, as the innovator of the intellectual backbone of the modern newspaper in Nigeria –The Editorial Board- has left a vacuum in the nation’s journalism firmament.
Said he: “From the groundswell of testimonies to the sterling qualities of Dr Macebuh at the various newspaper organizations like yours-The Guardian, The Daily Times and The Post Express among others where he left his indelible imprints as trail blazer, motivator and master of the art of the written and spoken word, his death is a loss not only to the journalism profession but to the country as a whole”.
Governor Fashola added that what perhaps stood as the most important of all was the legacy of personal integrity which Dr Macebuh kept intact throughout his journalism career and forayed into the testy terrains of entrepreneurial and public service till the very end.
He prayed to God to grant the soul of the departed sweet repose and the family, friends and colleagues left behind, the fortitude to bear the sad loss.
